Nothing says Maine like a visit to one of our iconic lighthouses. The lighthouses of Maine are some of the best in the country. We are, after all, the Lighthouse State. With more than 60 options lighting up the coastline, you could plan a whole trip around these historically significant and visually arresting Maine beacons. This one is Nubble at Cape Neddick in York, Maine. It's a huge tourist attraction!

This oft-photographed lighthouse was built in 1879 on a tiny, off-shore island, or 'nubble,' in York. It features a Victorian keeper's house with gingerbread trim and a lantern with miniature cast-iron lighthouses on its railing. It's so close to land you can view it easily from York's seaside Sohier Park

I am a New Englander, born and raised. I tend to gravitate toward landscape and seascape photos, although, I do love to get shots of old buildings and barns. Over the past few years, I've done some work with macros and find it to be a lot of fun. I've entered many contests and had some luck with my photos.
